photos from the August 2011 Jazz Age Lawn Party
The Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governor's Island is now a biannual event. I attended the August Lawn Party, where I met mystressprynne, exfish, thatjazz, and other NYC vintage lifestylers and steampunks. This year thousands of people showed up, instead of the few hundred of past years. It was a little overwhelming and I didn't take as many photos as last year, but if you'd like to see more, check out the Tsirkus Fotografika / Yelp photo booth set at http://www.flickr.com/photos/yelp/sets/72157627683009240/

mystressprynne took this flattering photo of me. I'm wearing a headband made from old necklace parts and the same dress I wore last year, but I had more time to fix the bodice. Altogether not too bad for a novice seamstress working without a pattern. Next year I do hope to put together lawn party dress or tea gown - this one's more appropriate for evening.

A group shot taken by exfishof some of the ladies I met at the event - not sure if everyone wants to be captioned on LiveJournal, but you'll probably recognize a few of them! mystressprynne at left is wearing a beautiful pale green frock she sewed and a stylish cloche. Not everyone can wear a cloche and she looks great in it!

Thank you! It was fun, although a bit hot and crowded!

Oh, thank you, you are so kind! Of course I got all sunburned, again - when will I learn to bring a parasol! But I did luck out with very flattering photographs by mystressprynne, you can't really see my manly arms too much but in some other photographs, I was wishing I could go back in time and tell myself to not do so many pushups! Thankfully you can't really see that here.
